Wings for Life, Inc. walks with widows and their children from the day of loss to the day they stand on their own.

Loss takes a husband. It shouldn't take a future.

For many widows, grief arrives alongside a second crisis: the income is gone, the school fees are due, and the community that filled the house for the funeral has gone home.

We exist to close that gap — keeping children in school, teaching a trade that pays, and funding the first steps of a business of her own, with people beside her the whole way.

Our mission

Wings for Life empowers widows and their children through education, skills training, business mentorship, and start-up capital — so that no widow walks the road of loss alone.

Our vision

To be a strong network to empower and provide a safe haven for widows, ensuring they do not go through their loss experience alone, but provide them with life-long connections and lasting support to enable them re-engage and have sufficiency and better quality of life. We relate. We understand. We listen. We care.

What we stand for

Five values we won't trade away.

  1. The women lead

    The widows in our network help design the programmes, mentor new cohorts, and decide what support looks like. We listen before we act.

  2. Dignity, not pity

    We speak of the women we serve as survivors and builders. No one is asked to perform their grief to receive help.

  3. Practical hope

    Hope matters — and hope pays no school fees. Every programme has a concrete mechanism behind it.

  4. Safeguarding first

    Where children are involved, their protection outranks everything, including our own storytelling.

  5. Open to all

    Our anchor is our faith. Our door is open to every widow and every supporter, of any faith or none.

    Provide support and resources to widows and children for sufficiency and quality of life, including seed capital for business ventures.

    Provide educational and training programs to build new skills or strengthen existing ones.

    Mentor widows and children toward their full potential through leadership and business seminars.

    Affordable preventative healthcare

    Partner with healthcare organizations for affordable preventative healthcare and screening.
