Question 1

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Accepted Answer

Yes, to the extent allowed by law. Wings for Life, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit — see our Financials & Transparency page for tax status details. You will receive a receipt by email for your records.

Question 2

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

Card and other standard online payment methods through our secure donation form, for one-time or monthly gifts. If you would rather give by check, wire, or through a donor-advised fund, contact us and we will walk you through it.

Question 3

Can I change or cancel a monthly gift?

Accepted Answer

Any time, with no fees or questions. Monthly giving is what lets us commit to a child's full school year and a graduate's first year in business.

Question 4

How much of my gift reaches the programs?

Accepted Answer

We will publish a verified program-expense ratio, alongside our annual report and IRS Form 990, on the Financials & Transparency page once finalised.

Question 5

Can I dedicate or give a gift in someone's honor?

Accepted Answer

Yes. There is a field for this on the donation form, and we can send a card to the honoree or their family on request — just include the details in the notes field or contact us directly.

Question 6

What does "sponsor a child" actually mean?

Accepted Answer

You are matched with one specific child of a widow or an orphan through our Adopt a Child Initiative. Your gift is pooled with other sponsors' and paid to their school on its term schedule. You receive a progress update each term. Children are never named or photographed publicly without a guardian's written consent.

Question 7

How long does a sponsorship commitment last?

Accepted Answer

For as long as you're able to give, ideally through to the end of secondary school or beyond. Sponsorships can be paused or ended at any time — we ask only that you let us know so we can find continued support for the child.

Question 8

Will I be able to contact the child I sponsor?

Accepted Answer

Updates flow through us rather than direct contact, to protect the child's safety and privacy. This is standard safeguarding practice for programs working with minors, and it's non-negotiable even for long-standing sponsors.

Question 9

What happens if I need to stop sponsoring partway through a term?

Accepted Answer

Tell us as soon as you can. We hold a small reserve precisely so a pause in one sponsorship doesn't interrupt a child's term — we do not want a family to feel the gap.

Question 10

How does the Skills Acquisition Program work?

Accepted Answer

Widows choose one of seven trades — sewing, beadmaking, petty trading, makeup artistry, IT, farming, or childcare — and complete a structured training track, typically several weeks to a few months depending on the trade. Graduates leave with a portfolio, a starter kit, and real client-facing practice, not just a certificate.

Question 11

What is the Seed Initiative, and who qualifies?

Accepted Answer

It's start-up capital, released in stages against a simple business plan and monthly bookkeeping, for graduates of the Skills Acquisition Program. The staged structure is deliberate: it's capital a woman has to account for, not a one-time handout, and it's what turns a trained skill into a running business.

Question 12

Do the three initiatives have to be used in order?

Accepted Answer

They're designed as a hand-off: Adopt a Child keeps the family stable, Skills Acquisition builds a trade, and Seed funds the first inventory. Most women move through in that order, though a widow may enter at whichever stage matches where she already is.

Question 13

Where do your programs currently operate?

Accepted Answer

We will publish our current operating locations here once confirmed. In the meantime, our Contact page can connect you with programme staff for location-specific questions.

Question 14

What kind of volunteer opportunities are available?

Accepted Answer

Mentorship for Seed Initiative graduates, skills-based volunteering (bookkeeping, marketing, curriculum review), and in-person help at training sessions where we operate. Visit the Volunteer page to tell us what you have to offer.

Question 15

Can my company or church partner with Wings for Life?

Accepted Answer

Yes — corporate giving programs, workplace campaigns, in-kind donations, and church partnerships are all ways organizations support this work. See the Partner With Us page or contact us directly to start the conversation.

Question 16

Can I fundraise on your behalf?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Birthday fundraisers, school drives, and community campaigns all help. Get in touch through the Contact page before you launch, and we'll share a short guide and make sure we can support and thank your donors properly.

Question 17

Is Wings for Life a registered nonprofit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Wings for Life, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our legal name, tax status, and EIN are listed on the Financials & Transparency page.

Question 18

How do you protect the privacy of the widows and children you serve?

Accepted Answer

No child's full name or identifiable photograph is used anywhere without a guardian's written consent on file, and none appear on this site currently. Stories are told with care, using first names or initials, and representative photography stands in for consented images until they exist.

Question 19

Who runs Wings for Life?

Accepted Answer

Our Leadership & Board page lists the people accountable for the organization and its funds. Governance details are published there as they're finalised.

Question 20

I have a question that isn't answered here — who do I contact?

Accepted Answer

Reach us through the Contact page — we read every message and aim to reply within a few business days.
